According to the Oxford Dictionary, 'liminal' comes from the latin for 'threshold' and refers to an initial or transitional stage in a process. I've always been fond of this word and one day I found it staring back at me with an extra 'l' at the end. It took me a moment to realize the gift of this little spelling mistake and the remarkable economy with which it captured my own little philosophical fumblings.
Everything is the beginning of something. It's all liminal. Whether we see things as a fateful fact of life or a point of departure becomes a matter of personal perspective.
