Phoenix
Time and history books confirm the enduring power of the symbol of the phoenix, that mythical bird continually regenerating itself out of its own ashes. Life experience is always illuminating the deep wells of resourcefulness that reside within and yet there are moments when a sense of inadequacy can overwhelm.
One afternoon when I was feeling particularly disoriented in a state of ‘stuckness’ and mental poverty the words, “Love among the ruins...always”, together with an image of a phoenix from my childhood, appeared in my awareness, rather like an e-mail from my intuition. Within a moment of acknowledging these few syllables I felt myself reconnecting to my internal phoenix; to my ever present power to transform apparent destruction into vitality and creation. With a subtle shift in perspective an opening revealed itself and I could feel fresh air moving through me, an expanded sense of me.
